The everyday horror of existing as a conscious, sentient being in the lightning flash of history in which our species of conscious, sentient being exist is apparent with every human interaction, with each emotional state, with the ceaseless confusion and incredulity of every last one of us. We seek to drown the wailing horror with mind altering interventions, both chemical and technological, but we cannot.
The organism of which we are a part - no, not apart - weeps and pleads as it withers, knowing part of its own body has gone bad, turned rogue.
But has it? Is the human race part of the organism's intelligence, or just a part of its epidermis - its acned skin?
Here at the University of Wilmarth Faculty of Eschatology we seek to explore such questions and many more. We do this by perusing knowledge both scientific and esoteric that may point towards an answer to the following question:
We perform our research in many ways, but primarily via an esoteric form of archeology called The Study of Emanations. The emanations referred to are the digital artefacts that you observe on this website. They come about via a divination process that uses modern digital creation techniques to mine the cultural static - the subconscious societal background noise that permanently colours our everyday experience - for signals that might shed light on the nature of the true intelligence of the organism of which we form a part. Put simply, all human culture and knowledge - spiritual and scientific, esoteric and mainstream - is merely a medium for the complex expressions of the vast galactic organism that we call earth which, when taken with the other forms of complex expression such as the complex biological expressions of nature, mathematics (in its purest sense), the beguiling textures of the quantum realm and the elaborate dance of this organism against the vast backdrop of spacetime.
The main faculty maintains this site to share the artefacts in the hopes of "crowdsourcing" solutions to the puzzles that they pose. As the outward facing facet of the Faculty, we concern ourselves with the cultural, practical and scientific elements of the studies. The spiritual and esoteric elements of the discipline are left to the founders of the University of Wilmarth, the ancient and mysterious monastic order named The Brotherhood of the Manifold Paths.
